Pricing Announced for Renault Rafale

Renault has announced pricing for its Rafale plug-in hybrid, which is now available to order.

The new model features Renault's 1.2-litre E-Tech hybrid engine, already used in the Austral and Rafale models, but now enhanced to deliver 300PS and all-wheel drive, compared to the previous 200PS output.

Starting at £45,695, the plug-in hybrid also benefits from an 8% benefit-in-kind tax rate.

Positioned to compete with the Audi Q5 Sportback, the Rafale is also up against premium offerings from other French manufacturers, such as the Citroën C5 X and Peugeot 408.

The 22kWh battery offers a zero-emission range of up to 65 miles, with an official WLTP fuel consumption of 564mpg. Renault claims the Rafale can achieve nearly 50mpg when the battery is depleted.

This hybrid system pairs a petrol engine with three electric motors. The primary motor powers the front wheels, the second motor drives the rear axle, and the third motor assists the petrol engine while also serving as a generator to recharge the battery.

With full power, the Rafale E-Tech 4x4 accelerates from 0 to 62mph in 6.4 seconds.

Charging is handled by a 7.4kW on-board charger, allowing the battery to be fully recharged from a home wallbox in under three hours.

Two trim levels are available: Techno Esprit Alpine and Atelier Alpine. The Atelier Alpine, starting at £49,695, features an innovative self-adjusting suspension system that uses a forward-facing camera to monitor road conditions and adjust the damping to handle surface imperfections like potholes or speed bumps.
